Toni and Dennis Schmidt,
owners of Black Hills Blend, were raised in Rapid City. As
young adults, they answered the "call of the big city" and
spent 28 years living and working in the Seattle, Washington
area, always with the intention to someday return to the
beautiful Black Hills. In August 1993, Dennis presented Toni
with a folder that contained all the information he had
carefully gathered to fulfill their dream of returning to
Rapid City and to open Black Hills Blend. So, they sold the
house and came home... and Black Hills Blend was born in
November, 1993.
And so the story goes...
the business has grown to include several drive-thru
espresso bars in Rapid City, South Dakota and Gillette,
Wyoming, and an admirable retail trade. Other members of the
Black Hills Blend family include Espresso Blends in
downtown Rapid City, Mountain Coffee with two locations in
Butte, Montana, and Peak Espresso in Dillon, Montana. All of
their products contain only the highest quality ingredients,
and their fast, friendly drive-thru locations have become
landmarks in the area.

Schmidt's "Coffee Bean Ranch" to one of our fast and
friendly drive-thru locations where they are ground moments
prior to becoming the Americano, Latté, Mocha, Brev,
Cappuccino, or Yoguccino you order to launch your day... in
the BEST POSSIBLE way!!
Smaller amounts of
fresh-roasted Black Hills Blend coffee beans are cut from
the herd and loaded into our gorgeous, gussied-up gold foil
bags and trailered to our drive-thru locations to be sold to
the serious coffee connoisseur (or even the serious, casual
coffee drinker) for at home brewin' in your drip coffee
maker or espresso machine.
Premium Black Hills
Blend beans are now also available for internet purchase,
to be shipped to the location of your choice. Or, pick up a
gift certificate for a friend or employee (what a great
gift!) to enjoy at any our locations in Rapid City and
Gillette. |
